Role: Environmental Medicine Communications Assistant

The Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine Institute for Exposomic Research works to uncover how environmental exposures impact health outcomes and to develop treatment solutions. Their work centers around understanding chemical, nutritional, and social health exposures and their impact on health and disease outcomes. The Institute for Exposomic Research works with health practitioners, community partners, and policymakers to create a healthier environment for all.

  • Worked with pediatricians and clinical practitioners to develop environmental health education materials

  • Facilitated the NYC Exposome Symposium and NIEHS EHSCC Annual Meeting conferences in July 2022

  • Created infographics, comics, children’s activities, and other educational content for the Learning Hub of The Institute for Exposomic Research website to spread awareness of environmental health issues and to educate consumers, parents, and children

  • Developed teacher and caregiver guides based on Mount Sinai's “Healthy World, Healthy You” children's activity books to use in NYC classrooms

  • Collaborated with an NYC public school teacher to ensure the quality of guides and alignment with NYC public school standards

  • Compiled a database of children's environmental health curricula, activities, and academic papers

  • Attended lectures and panels by leading environmental health educators, scientists, and advocates
